Interesting comparison of Rackspace Cloud vs. Amazon EC2

The 2 leading cloud computing providers are definitely Amazon EC2 and Rackspace Cloud. For some people who are not familiar with these 2 companies, it may be hard to choose between them. Just found a nice little comparison between them and I thought I'd post it here.

RSC = Rackspace Cloud
EC2 = Amazon EC2

  1. EC2 doesn't offer DNS and reverse-DNS services but RSC does.
  2. EC2 doesn't offer hybrid deployment but RSC does.
  3. EC2 comes way short by offering a mere pay-per-incident support - this is simply unmanaged hosting in a fancy name. However at RSC, you get 24/7 live chat and telephone support.
  4. RSC can be much better scaled, and a lot more easily.
  5. RSC guarantees a contracted amount of CPU computing / RAM while EC2 gives you limits on them. When resources aren't guaranteed, you are basically on shared servers.
  6. RSC has directly attached and persistent storage.
That pretty much says anything.
